SF residents love riding for entertainment purposes (27% of trips) but also really enjoy Waymo One for more than the usual ride-hailing, with 26% of trips in SF used specifically for shopping and running errands
"The next steps are now to test the vehicle, which has been redesigned from the ground up to seat four people, has no driver’s seat, and can drive in both directions, on public roads. This is to begin next year (2023) in San Francisco, where adapted test vehicles are already on the road.
Starting from these vehicle tests, a successively larger fleet will then be on the road with passengers, which will then be transferred to a robotaxi service."
The Loop is a free autonomous shuttle that operates every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Loop operates on a fixed route and has an attendant on the vehicle at all times. Shuttles arrive approximately every 20 minutes. Between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. the shuttle will arrive every 10 minutes.
Vehicle capacity is 10 people. The shuttle will not run during periods of heavy rain or fog or during major holidays.
